A Letter from America arrives!

Sorry its been a while, here is a quick update. Made an attempted comeback after my achilles tendonitis in Jan/Feb after two good sessions here last week (first two of 2017). Travelled to the Victor Lopez innovational in Houston Texas last Friday night to run my first ever 5000m on a track. Weather was forecast for a pretty serious thunderstorm at the time of my race. Thankfully it stayed in the Gulf long enough for us to run the race but that was about the only thing that went in our favor that night. (Temp during hovered around 26 degrees with near 100% humidity @ 9pm)
Finished 18th in an absolute Moshpit of a race (43 starters on a single line – they combined 3 heats at the last minute for fear of lightening strikes forecast for the next hour).
Wasn’t in as good a shape as I thought I was, ended up much slower then my times in sessions had projected. Time was 15:44 in the end. (official results attached)
Coach was pretty happy, I was very far from pleased.
However Rome wasn’t built in a day and I will live to fight another day. Great experience and its something to build on. I’ll keep you updated as I have more races planned for the next 2 months.
Until then all the best,
Nil D
