Clonliffe men runner up in National League

Aug 21, 2006 [Noel Guiden] Our Men’s team were in action in the National League Final, Premier Division, at Tullamore yesterday. After a valiant effort the team ultimately finished 2nd, not the victory we were hoping for, but one better than last years 3rd place.

There were winning performances by the Club’s athletes in the 1500M by Colm Rooney who ran a time of 4:01.96, the 5000M by Killian Lonergan 14:26.18, the 3000M walk by David Lilefosse 15:11.46 and in the shotputt by Chris Enjorlas 14.49M.

The winners of the 2006 National League were North Down on 126 points with Clonliffe 2nd, only 5 points in arrears, on 121 points and Raheny Shamrocks 3rd on 102 points.

After last years best showing for some years in placing 3rd and this years further improvement to 2nd hopefully 2007 will see us on the top of the podium.

Our Lady’s team finished 6th in division 1 on a total of 56 points.
