Clonliffe sprinters provide sparkle at National Junior and U/23`s

The National junior and U/23 Championships took place in very changeable conditions in Tullamore today. Weather conditions ranged from sunshine to downpours but the constant was blustering wind. The club`s sprinters provided plenty of sparkle with pride of place going to Paul Whelan who was crowned U/23 National 100 Champion in 10.82. Keith Pike was 2nd in the junior 100 in 10.93. To put the icing on the cake the sprinters won the U/23 4 x 100 relay with a team of Paul Whelan, Stuart Roche, Isreal Ibanu and Daniel Doran. Spohia Ellis ran a new pb of 25.01 in taking silver in the U/23 200. Other sprints: U/23 100 4th Isreal Ibanu (11.15), 6th Daniel Doran (11.63), 200m 5th Paul Whelan (22.11). In the junior hammer the club`s athletes filled two medal positions: Manuel Calve-Curry 2nd (53.16) and Simon Galligan 3rd (53.03).  Back on the track Aaron Hanlon finished in that unlucky 4th position in the junior 1500 having been out kicked after a slow race. Roisin Leahy ran well in her 1500 finishing in 4.57.61 for 5th place. Seanna Reilly was 5th in the junior 400 (60.14).
