Clonliffe teams for Dublin Cross Country C`ships

News of the Clonliffe teams in action in Sunday`s Dublin Championships to be hosted in Santry by Clonliffe Harriers. The women`s team looks strong lead by Becky Woods back on the country this season with a fine run in the Athletics Ireland Autumn 5k Open a couple of weeks back under her belt. The team also includes Emer O`Brien, Bernadette Kiernan, Maura Matthews and Fionnula Doherty.

The men`s team, defending champions, has been decimated with withdrawals through injury and the marathon, and is expected to include Brian MacMahon, Colm Rooney and Tudor Mircea.

In the juniors, again injury has put a number of guys on the side lines but expected to line up on Sunday are Brian Flanagan, Ross Kearney and Niall Norman in the men`s race with U/18 Dublin Champion Hope Saunders being joined in the junior women`s race by Laura Tuite, Greta and Alannah Cooley.

Also on Sunday the Clonliffe juveniles will be in action from early with strong teams lining out at U/15, the boys fielding a full team of Craig Giles, Stephen Cashin, Sam Baker-Gorman, Mark Kearns, Harry Pierce, Ben Guiden, Cian Bolger and Aaron Cullen. The girls team is Lauren Carr, Cliona Cooley, Amy Connolly and Hannah Browne.

The U/13s will also put in strong performances with several athletes having shown very good form in the league and even ages championships, athletes to look out for include Cillian Forrester, Mark Kavanagh and Luchino Ramano and a particularly strong girls team that includes Ella Brown, Amy Hodson, Amy Scott, Abbey Sheehy, Aoife Hession, Ella Bergin, Vicky McDonnell. While in the U/11 age groups the club can call on the likes of Michael Coleman, James McDonnell and Oisin Finninwith.

As always the athletes will appreciate some home support, and the officials would appreciate some help! So please come along on Sunday and fulfil a dual roll!
