Ernie Ramsey takes 2015 Club 10 Mile C`ship plus more

The Grand Prix Series round today included the 52nd Clonliffe Club 10 Mile Championships held in Malahide Castle Grounds. With ongoing gardening works in the grounds, the small matter of tree felling and pruning, meaning the usual route was unusable the organisers quickly put their thinking caps on and put together a new 10. With a significant number of pbs recorded the non measured course may have been a tad short, however, the important thing is that as always the show goes on!

A really good turn out of 41 starters set off on the new faster course with Ernie Ramsey proving to be the class of the field as he romped home winning by nearly four and a half minutes to win the 2015 club championship and take the Ahern Cup. Ernie`s time was 51.45, 2nd Dermot Faughan 56.04 and 3rd in a comeback to serious racing Tom Griffin 56.57. The women`s championship, making it a double after her 10,000 win, was taken by Rachel Wisdom (57.00), 2nd Joyce O`Hare 61.39 and 3rd Emma Harding 63.03.

Takes to race sponsor Maurice Ahern and to the officials. Next up for the Grand Prixers is the Horan Cup on November 9th in Santry followed by the final round the Irwin Cup on November 28th.

Meanwhile in Galway Tudor Mircea placed 4th in the Galway Bay 10k in 32.15.
