Gregan bags max points at Euro teams. Day 2 Ireland 7th

At day 1 of the European League team championships in Tallinn, Estonia yesterday Brian Gregan repeated his maximum points scoring performance of last year with a 400m win in 46.54. Clonliffe`s other man in Tallinn action yesterday was Keith Pike who ran a good 3rd leg of the 4 x 100 as the relay team finished 7th. Today will see Clonliffe`s other two athletes compete, Ian Rogers in the pole vault and Ciara McCallion in the 4 x 400.

Meanwhile in Santry yesterday the schools season concluded with the Aviva Tailteann Inter Provincial Track and field. Cathal Doyle was 3rd in the 1500 (4.13.76), Andri Lindov 4th in the Javelin (39.79) and Greg Hosseny 7th in the 3000 race walk (19.03.43).

Today (Sunday) Day 2 of European team Championships. Ian Rogers competing in the biggest competition of his career to date placed 11th in the pole vault. In the relay Ciara McCallion  ran the 3rd leg in the 4 X 400 as the team placed 8th and then in the final event of the day and a storming final leg in the 4 X 400 by Brian Gregan as Ireland beat Portugal to finish the competition in a most encouraging 7th place.
