Gregan signs off with a win in Copenhagan

Brian Gregan brought the curtin down on a superb season with a fine win in the 400m at the Copenhagan Games last night. Gregan was an easy winner in a time of 46.00, well clear of Michael Warner (GBR) 46.88 and Brian Murphy 47.05.

What a season. At the outset of his season for all sorts of reasons Brian was a little pessimistic, however, he really hit the ground running, his first outing on June 12th in Salamanca produced a PB and club record of 45.91 and more importantly European Championships QT. Five days later a stadium record in Ried, Austria of 46.01. Then the Europeans: PB and club record in heats of 45.63, PB , another blistering sub 46 seconds  45.76 and then 6th in the final when injury yards from the line robbed him of European bronze. Another PB/club record followed in that thrilling win over a top international field in July 25th`s Morton Games at home (45.61).Then of course after Sunday`s league final Brian will go down in the annals of Clonliffe history, an extraordinary performance: 1st in the 400, 2nd in an unbelieveable 100 in a (wind assisted) PB of 10.54, a fraction behind Steven Colvert  and then delivering the National league Title with that amazing final leg of the 4×400.
