Jenko goes sub 2 at graded

Apr 20, 2011 [Noel Guiden] – (Updated Apr 23, 2011) Tonight saw the begining of the 2011 track season with the first of the Dublin Graded Meets taking place in the Morton Stadium. Andrew Jenkinson got his season opener off to a good start by running well under two minutes in the 800m. Jenko recorded a time of 1.58.53 in winning grade C. Philip O`Doherty had one of those nights 9th in his race in 2.14.28. In the 3,000m Joseph Cooper ran 9.39.65 in placing 6th in grade B. The only other Clonliffe athletes in action were the field eventers. In the high jump Marcin Klinkzow was 2nd with 1.90m with up and coming man Andrew Heeney, the national indoor U/17 champion, 3rd with 1.85m. The hammer results record in 3rd place Manuel Calvo-Gurry 53.28 with Martin Hunt 4th (52.04) and Simon Galligan 7th (36.83). Next graded meet is in Irishtown in two weeks time, May 4th, with 200m/1500m/shot/discus/triple jump and the Dublin 10,000m championship all on the menu.
