Masters bring haul back to Santry

Aug 22, 2011 [Noel Guiden] Clonliffe Masters continued the impressive performances by the club`s athletes this weekend at the National Masters track and field championships in Tullamore yesterday. Clonliffe Master athlete of the day was Katheryn Walley who medalled in all three of her events. Gold in V4 100 (16.17) gold in the 200 (33.18) and maybe gold (official result not available) in the 400. Philip O`Doherty who always times things nicely for these championships was another big winner taking double gold in the V4 400m (60.50) and 800m (2.14.69). Now that Matt Slattery has re signed for clonliffe it is good to report that he freshly attired in his brand new Clonliffe singlet took V6 400m gold (65.63) and 800m silver (2.35.43). Two medals also for Big Joe Gibbons silver in V4 high jump (1.35m) and bronze in the long jump(3.23). Pat Bonass once again struck master`s gold winning the V7 5,000 (21.17) and finally it`s nice to report that 1980s Clonliffe man Pat O`Grady now with Drogheda and District in his comeback was 2nd in the V4 5,000.
