Men off to flying start in League defence

The Clonliffe men`s track and field team got their defence of the National League Premier division off to an excellent start at Morton Stadium yesterday topping the points on 123 from Crusaders AC 108 and Donore Harriers 107.

It was a particularly strong group that also included St Abbans and North Down. The Clonliffe team included experience and youth with the win on the day being built on the foundations of the club`s superb field eventers.

Rory Gunning was once again excellent breaking the club javelin for the 4th, or is that 5th, time this season. The record now standing at 63.24m. Also contributing maximum points were Dave Donegan in the pole vault, Luke Managan in the shot, Andrea Mahin in the triple jump, Andrew Heney in the high jump and simon Galligan in the hammer.

The were most valuable contributions also from Keith Pike, Dave Flynn and Greg Hosseny in the race walk.
