Round 10 – Grand Prix Series / Incorporating Club Championship 1500 Metres – Morton Stadium – Thurs, 13th July – 8pm – Report by Liam Hennessy as follows;
The Grand Prix / Club Championship 1500 Metres took place Thursday at Morton Stadium. The weather was a Dry / Cloudy / Breezy / 14 Degrees – Not a great evening for times. The 1500 Metres was run over five races. The Club Championship turned out to be a competitive affair in both Men and Womens categories. In the Mens race Adam O’Brien had a fine run retaining the Simon Byrne Trophy (Presented by Pat Byrne), in winning by over three seconds from Sean O’Leary in second and Sean Doran two seconds further back in third place. In the Womens race Ciara Peelo produced a great performance to win by over eight seconds from Alannah Cooley, who had a fine run to finish second with Aimee Ahern in third place.
