Sergiu to lead Clonliffe Dublin marathon charge

Sergiu Ciobanu will look to regain the National Marathon title on Monday. The National Championships are incorporated in the Dublin City Marathon and Sergiu leads a strong Clonliffe team which will go very well in the team event. Also competing on Monday is Gary O’Hanlon who has demonstrated how serious he is preparing for Monday’s race in that he has gone a fortnight without racing! Another athlete whose progress will be watched with great interest is debutante Michael MacDiarmada. Michael has been preparing diligently for Monday’s marathon and with a bit of luck on his side will have a good one. There is a substantial Clonliffe contingent running on Monday which will also include Chris Muldoone, Conor Delaney, Mark Bermingham, Fergie Keenan, Ronan McDermott, Pat Byrne, Tom Ennis, Colm McDonnell, Mark Dowling, Anthony O’Brien, Ivan Eustace, Stephen Eustace, Brendan Donnelly, Andrew Eustace and from the women’s section of the club athletes taking part on Monday include Jacqui Dunphy, Alison O’Sullivan and Sinead Duffy.  Also competing on Monday is the Colonel, Frank Behan one of the small few who have competed and finished every single Dublin City Marathon to date.

Apologies to any athlete whose name I have overlooked.

The very best of luck to all on the streets of Dublin on Monday morning. It would be very helpful if you could text or email your name and time after Monday’s race to me at 087 9599 888 or noel.guiden@behans.ie
