Stephen Scullion breaks new ground in 10,000 plus round up

Stephen Scullion ran his first ever track 10,000 last night at the Portland Track Festival, at the Lewis and Clark College Track, Oregan clocking an impressive 28.58.28. Scullion placed 11th in the race which was won by Galen Rupp (USA) in 28.18.29. Scullion`s time places him inside the Clonliffe all time top 10 in 8th place splitting Jerry Kieran and Gerry Finnegan.

On his Facebook page Scullion said: “20 weeks ago I hadn’t ran in 8 months, and was playing rugby. I’m pretty happy with that result, 20 more weeks and I`ll run a lot faster.”

Today, Sunday the 11th, Brian MacMahon was 5th in the Michael Murphy 4 Mile road race in Ferns, Co. Wexford (20.52) also in Kilmacow, Co. Kilkenny Sergiu Ciobanu won the Little South 4 Mile Road race in 19.46.
