Alan O`Neill reports on Mick “The Prince” Byrne`s visit to St. Aidans: St. Aidan’s were delighted to welcome back Mick Byrne on Tuesday to the school. It has been over 40 years since Mick walked the corridor of his old school and he was delighted to see his old school still winning titles.
The St.Aidans/Clonliffe students gave Mick a tour of the school and a talk on the athletics programme. Mick returned the favour by giving the team a 1 hour talk everything from his days in Aidans and Clonliffe, to heading to America and eventually ending up as Head Coach in Wisconsin University.
Mick was delighted to receive a singlet that he wore whilst winning the Senior Schools Team title in 1974 from Senior Captain, Greg Hossenny.
Thanks for the visit Mick and for setting the bar for so many Aidan’s and Harriers men.
