Weekend catch up: Slattery takes 4, Jayme PB`s, Sergiu Cork Half record

A busy weekend of athletics, in addition to the All Ireland Schools (see earlier posting) Clonliffe athletes were in action at the Leinster Track and Field, in the UK and on the roads.

The catch up starts at the Leinster Track & Field Championships, first off with the Masters where Matt Slattery cleaned up. In a golden O/60 clean sweep Matt won the 100 in 14.45, the 200 in 29.90, 400 in 64.97 and the 800 in 2.38.06. An equally busy, but only half as successful (!!) day for Ronan Gately winning the O/45 110H (21.03) and 400H (60.88) titles and places 5th in the 100 (13.62) and 5th in the 400 (62.98). Leinster Master`s titles also for Pat Daveron in the O/40 3000sc in 10.29.67 and David Dunwoody O/45 (10.57.97) and bronze for George Maybury in the O/60 800 (2.41.66).

Snezan Bechtina took the Leinster senior 400 title winning in a time of 56.50. Paul Whelan was 4th in the 100 (11.67) and 4th also for Andrii Minhan in the 400 (52.27).

In the Leinster U/23`s Keith Pike was 2nd in the 100 (11.07) with Stuart Roche 8th (11.57).

Also over the weekend Jayme Rossister added another pb to his recent collection, having recently lowered his 3000 sc pb to sub 9. his 5000 time took a battering at the BMC Trafford Meet as Jayme finished 2nd in 14.20.18.

Another man in good form was Sergiu Ciobanu who set a course record in the Cork City half marathon yesterday winning in a time of 67.40.

Finally on the Streets of Dublin yesterday in pretty grim conditions the women`s 10k, mini marathon took place with several Clonliffe ladies in action (names and times by text to 0879599888 please)
