On Thursday evening 14 November 2024 the annual 10,000m Club Championship was held in Morton Stadium. It was a poignant event this year following the passing of Pat Bonass last September, the long-time sponsor of this race. Pat Bonass served Clonliffe Harriers with distinction and passion for over 50 years as an athlete, committee member, volunteer, ad hoc coach, adviser, organiser, training partner, companion and friend. He leaves a lasting legacy and typical of the man prior to his passing he made provision for the continued sponsorship of the 10,000m.
Clonliffe Harriers were delighted to welcome on Thursday night representatives of Pat’s Family, his daughter Margaret, her husband Declan and family, Finn and Mia.
10,000m Race result: Sean Doran gave a stand out performance to successfully defend his title and win the Men’s Club Championship. In typical fashion Sean took the lead from the start and crossed the finish line in a PB time of 00:31:11. Lee Duddy put in a notable performance to claim second place. Anto Doran put in a solid performance coming third. Orla Deighan was first lady home. This is just reward for Orla who has been competing consistently over the past number of weeks. Also getting a podium place with a strong run was Siobhan McCarthy. While in third place was newcomer Cara Campos. At the post race reception Pat’s daughter Margaret kindly presented the Pat Bonass Cups to the Men’s and Women’s winner.
