136th AGM Report

Clonliffe Harriers 136th annual general meeting took place last night in the club lounge with a healthy representation of club members in attendance. It was a businesslike interesting meeting where the clubs officers and captains presented their reports on the club’s activities over the previous 12 months. It was also an occasion tinged with sadness as Gladys Cooper after an extraordinary 31 years as the club’s juvenile captain stepped down from this role, but thankfully will remain involved with the club as one of our juvenile coaches.

The club treasurer produced an excellent report on the very healthy state of the club financially. The 3 club captains reported on the successes enjoyed by the club’s athletes and teams (the Captains’ reports are attached below). Gladys having delivered to her final report as Juvenile Captain received a thoroughly deserved standing ovation and was presented with a bouquet by the President. Also attached below are the addresses to the AGM of the club president Mick Kearney and the honorary secretary Stephen Bateson.

The meeting elected the following as the Clonliffe club’s committee for 2024/25:

Club President – Mick Kearney.

Club secretary – Stephen Bateson.

Club treasurer – Brian MacDonald.

Club captain – Noel Guiden.

Club women’s captain – Jenny Johnston.

Committee members – Stephen Harkness, Ciara O’Regan, Peter Bissett.

The meeting also unanimously re-elected the existing club trustees and club vice presidents.

There were 2 motions before the meeting which were discussed. The first motion concerned an amendment to the club rules to incorporate various protocols/codes of practice as recommended by Athletics Ireland/Sport Ireland. This motion was passed unanimously. Likewise the second motion concerning eligibility for national novice and intermediate cross country was passed unanimously. That motion will now proceed forward to the next Dublin Athletics AGM and if passed at that meeting onwards to the 2025 Athletics Ireland Congress.

The president and committee thank the club’s members for their support throughout the year and for their attendance at last nights annual general meeting and look forward to serving the club members for the forthcoming year. The president reiterated that if any member wishes to raise any issue they should feel free to do so at any stage with him or any committee member.
