60 years ago, from the archives…

Thanks to Maurice Ahern today we bring two 60 year old memories from the archives. This month of April 60 years ago witnessed two auspicious events in the history of Clonliffe Harriers.

On April the 12th 1964 the very first Clonliffe Club 10mile Road Championship took place starting from a point near Murtagh’s pub on the Belfast?Dublin road -back through Swords and Pinnock Hill to outside the gates of the then John F Kennedy Stadium at Santry. The winner was our top road runner at the time Ray Heffernan.

About 2 weeks later on April 25th 1964 the newly formed ladies section made their track debut-  competing in a quadranular event on the old cinder track. Taking  part in this event were teams from Crusaders, Dublin University, Edinburgh University, and Clonliffe Harriers
