Grand Prix News: Doran fastest but Tracey wins Walker Cup

Report from Liam Hennessy: Thursday last, September 14th, 2017 – Round 13 – Walker Cup – 4 Mile Track Race – Morton Stadium – 8pm – Kindly sponsored by our Ladies Captain; Pamela Cooper. The evening began at 7.30 with torrential rain and by 8pm we were ready to go on what turned out to be a wonderful dry and calm evening – an absolute gem of an evening for distance running. The majority of runners ran personal bests in what was the last track race of the 2017 Grand Prix Series.

The result of the handicap for the Walker Cup was as follows;

Well whats next ?? – After whats been a wonderful track season we now move on to the last three races of the series. The Next Race is – Round 14 – The Ahern Cup – 10 Mile Race / Incorporating Club Championship – Saturday, October 7th – Malahide Castle – 12 Noon – The Race is run over a 2.5 mile lap x 4 times and is run on a combination of Trail and Tarmac. Training shoes should be fine. Don’t be afraid of the distance – Come along and give it a go – We would love to see you there!

Lost Property:

A Nike Training Top was found at the track after the 10,000 Metres. At the same race another training top was mislaid. If you have lost or taken the wrong top please contact Liam Hennessy at 0872195748.
Finally:
In four weeks time Clonliffe Harriers will host their annual Schools Cross Country Invitational event at Santry Demesne. Last year the event attracted over 2000 children. The club is in urgent need of volunteers to give a hand on the day. We are looking for people to work a few hours to a full day – whatever you can manage – any time volunteered will be greatly appreciated. Course builders are needed from 8am – Admin people to take entries from 10am – Starters and Recorders from 11am – The races will take place between 12 and 3pm. Course deconstructors are also required from 3 to 4.30pm. Your help in volunteering to take part in this premier event on the Schools Athletics calender would be greatly appreciated. if you can give any time to help with this event please contact noel.guiden@behans.ie
