The Belfast milers club meet at the Mary Peters track today brought mixed outcomes for the Clonliffe athletes taking part. Marcus Lawler as part of his season’s preparations did a 200 and 400 double up finishing 2nd in both, 21.09 in the 200, 47.53 in the 400. Emma Mitchell had a good day and was the class of the field in the 5000 kicking for home with 300 to go winning in 16.38.48. Ian Guiden had a tough day at the office finishing 9th in the 5000 in 14.34.54. Darren O’Dwyer ran a 2 second PB in his 800 and by the narrowest of margins missed his first sub- 2, but clearly it’s only a matter of time, as he ran 2.00.03 placing 2nd after a fine race. Yet another PB for the collection for Niall Carbery this time in the 1500, Niall running, 3.58.55. Mark McDonald ran 4.06.08 in his 1500. Unfortunately Jonny Whan suffered a severe hamstring spasm 200 from home in the A 1500 forcing him to abandon ship. Greta Streimikyte was 6th in the B1500 in 4.31 82.
At last night’s Navan 6 K Rd race Gareth Loy was the sole Clonliffe Harrier finishing 17th in a time of 22.33.
