Yvonne McDonagh reports: the Clonliffe women took in the final meet and train of the winter cross country series today at Abbottstown. Today’s run over the national cross country course was a 2 mile with usual fine turnout of Clonliffe athletes. 1st home, and not weighed down by her Dublin novice medal won on Saint Patrick’s Day, was Aisling Andrews in 5th. The rest of the pack were not far behind: Clare Roche 11th, Rachel Eustace 12th, Siobhan McCarthy 27th, Anne Lyons 36th, Yvonne 42nd, Ciara O’Regan 49th, Sue Cullen 53rd, Mel Curran 59th and Catherine Dempsey 73rd.
That brought the league to a conclusion. The meet and train is sub divided into 3 sections: platinum, gold and silver. The Clonliffe C team of Michelle Waters, Ciara O’Regan, Siobhan McCarthy, Anne Lyons, Jeanette Reid and Mel Curran took the win in the silver division.
