With the threat of snow later in the week this morning nothing could seem further away as a beautiful sunny Spring day greeted the early risers in Dublin`s fair city. A gang of young Clonliffe athletes gathered for a recovery run on Dollymount Strand. Mother Nature can at time be cruel. And cruel she was this morning. The athletes left the shelter of the Causeway Road and headed onto the beach to be greeted by a bitingly bitter wind that would certainly have skinned any cat foolish enough to be in the vicinity. Still this group is made of steely stuff and without a murmur of discontent got on with a 45 minute run followed by 4 x 100 (or was it 1,000?) strides. Work done they hit the waves, swimming out to Howth and back……well not really, that last bit is a pure fabrication!
