World Indoor Masters updates: Edel Maguire World Champ, Philip silver, Matt just misses out, Snezana in Pentathlon.

Updated news on the Clonliffe crew at the World Masters Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland. March 26th: Edel Maguire captured magnificent W60 High Jump Gold with a jump of 1.39m. This was a brilliant start to the championships, by the Irish Master’s multi record holder and club Master Athlete of the Year, with more still to come.

27th: Philip O’Doherty won M60 team silver in the cross country event at the World Masters.

March 28th: Edel Maguire bagged W60 400 silver clocking a classy 65.95.

March 30th: M70 200, Matt Slattery, who has been carrying an injury for most of the indoor season put himself through another tough race with a fine effort indeed in the 200 heats finishing 3rd (30.64) to lose out on progressing by 1000th of a second!

March 31st: W60 200 final and Edel Maguire just misses out on another medal finishing 4th in 29.63. Snezana Bechtina put in a fine day’s work in the W40 Pentathlon to finish a highly credible 8th, the highlight was a 1st place in the 800 in 2.32.50 and a 2nd place in the High Jump (1.42). For the record Snezana ‘s other results: 60H 11.11, shot 6.81, Long Jump 4.41, total points 2923.

April 1st Matt Slattery and the Irish M70 4×200 team placed 4th in a new Irish record of 1.59.76. Then to round off the championships Snezana Bechtina took W40 team 4 x 200 bronze 1.50.65.
