Brace of club sprint records

Clonliffe athletes set new club records at the Newham & Essex Beagles Stratford Speed GP in London this afternoon. A week after Marcus Lawler ran a new club 200 recorded he went even faster today with a lightning 20.56 ( W +0.8), this was the fastest 200 time recorded by an Irish athlete in 2024. Earlier in the programme Marcus finished 3rd in the 100 in 10.29, however, the wind was +3.7 and in series 2 he clocked a wind legal 10.35.

Jess Tappin also ran a club record, bettering her own 100H record as she ran 13.86 (W +0.7), in series 1 Jess also finished 3rd, again it was wind legal, clocking 14.10. For good measure she also took in the 400 where she finished 5th in 54.31.

Tallaght AC’s Israel Olantunde set a new Irish 100 record at the same meet of 10.12.
