There were outstanding performances by young Clonliffe athletes both at home and away, today Saturday, July 27. At the national juvenile Championships Lorcan Benjacar was exceptional winning the U/19 1500 title in a new championship record of 3.55.23. In the U/18 1500 Matei Urscahi put in another quality performance, he finished 1st in heat 2 in 4.03.83 to place 4th overall, narrowly missing out on a medal. In the U/19 200 Christopher Lynch ran 23.67 taking 4th place to qualify for the final and in the final finished 6th in 24.65.
Meanwhile in Luevan, Belgium Davey Davitt was in brilliant form in the 400 hurdles clocking a new PB of 51.48 which was also within the qualifying standard for the world U/20 Championships taking place in Lima, Peru at the end of next month.
Later at that same meet Sean Cronin was 7th in the 1500 in 3.48.41, his 2nd fastest time.
