There’s a bit of catching up to do on the Clonliffe athletes who have been an action overseas in the past number of days. On Wednesday last, August 9, Jess Tappin ran a 400 pb of 53.37, which is also a new Clonliffe club record, at the Watford open meet in London. Jess bettering Clonliffe legend Claire Walsh’s 1973 mark of 53.70. Jess adding the 400 flat club record to her 400 hurdles club record set in the nationals.

Also on August 9 Liam Roarty place 65th in the Quayside 5 K road race in Newcastle in a time of 16.55.

On Saturday evening, the 12th, Cathal Doyle won the BMC Manchester 1500 in a time of 3.37.43. At that same meet Eoin Pierce clocked 14.22.68 in finishing 17th in the 5000.

Then really going overseas Alannah Cooley also on Saturday ran her 1st race since heading off to Australia, the City to Surf Fun Run, possibly the biggest fun run in the world, a 14 KM race from Hyde Park, Sydney to Bondi Beach where she finished 164th woman from 33,147 in a time of 60:32.
