Sergiu Ciobanu won this morning’s Limerick Marathon in 2:21.20 with Tudor Mireca 3rd (2.29.01). Sergiu with an average of 5.24 miles hit 10k in 32.11 and half way in 68.42. Tudor was 33.48 at 10k and 72.46 at the half marathon marker. At the other end of the country Gary O’Hanlon was on the streets of Belfast finishing 3rd in the Belfast Marathon in 2:26.59.
In the Limerick Half Marathon held later in the morning Dermot Faughnan was 71st running 1:26.05, Maura Matthews was 9th W45, 1:37.04 and Stephen Doyle ran 1:43.03.
Finally the 6 Mile Race, it what is a fine Festival of road racing, Ciara Peelo was 3rd Women and 1st W35 in 40.29, just ahead of the fast finishing Clodagh Galvin 40.33, 2nd senior woman.
