Clonliffe 2: Final Instructions

Clonliffe Harriers are delighted to welcome you to this
year’s Clonliffe 2 Mile and Fun Run taking place this Sunday 20 th
October, 2024 in Glasnevin at 10.30am.  

Back in the day!

This year the race returns again to its old stomping ground
finishing at the iconic Gravediggers pub in Prospect Square,
Glasnevin.  
You are also participating in one of Europe’s oldest races, this is
the 133nd running. 
 
Race check opens at 9.00am 
All runners will need to collect their race number and tee shirt on
the morning of the race at St Vincent’s Boys Primary School, St
Philomena’s Road Glasnevin  (Eircode D11 HX78) from 9.00am. 
You are advised to check-in before 9.40am to give time to get to
race start.
Please note there are no parking spaces at the check-in at St
Vincent’s School Primary School so please arrive on foot. 

Entrance to the school is via a side entrance namely St
Philomena’s Road off the Finglas Road and adjacent to Harts
Corner.   
The check in is located at the back of the school.  
Please arrive early to ensure an orderly distribution of race
numbers. 
You should call to collect your number by 9.40am at the latest.  
The check in is a 10 minute walk from the start. 
 
Getting to the race 
We would encourage runners to avail of public transport in getting
to Glasnevin. The area is served by a number of bus routes
including: 4, 140, 9 155, 83, 83A. 
 
Parking 
There are parking spaces in the various roads within walking
distance of the check in, race start and finish. You are reminded
that many of these parking spaces are Pay and Display so you
will need to bring coins with you for the relevant meters. 
 
Parking spaces that are near the Check in/Race Start/Finish
include: 

 De Courcey Square  
 Prospect Square  
 Hedigans(Brian Boru Pub) car park 
 Phibsborough Shopping Centre car park 
 Car parking on main Finglas Road opposite main Gate of
Glasnevin Cemetery  
 
Race start 
The race starts at 10.30 opposite the entrance to the Bon Secours
Hospital adjacent to the Met Eireann Office on Glasnevin Hill.  
 
Race assembly point 
The assembly point prior to the start of the race is outside the
Tolka House in Glasnevin which is below Met Eireann and
opposite the Bon Secours Hospital. Runners will be walked to the
start from here. 
 
Running gear 
Runners who wish can leave a small bag adjacent on the Green in
Prospect Square at the race finish at owners risk. Please do not
leave valuables in such bags. 
 
Race Finish 
The finish is at the Gravediggers Pub in Prospect Square,
Glasnevin. 
 
Race Officials – Clonliffe Harriers – Report from 9.15am 
If you are not running on Sunday we would ask, members
of Clonliffe Harriers, that you make yourself available as a race
Marshall.  
A health and safety briefing together with an allocation of duties will
take place at 9.30am outside the Gravediggers Pub, Glasnevin. 
 
Race sponsor 
The race will be sponsored this year by the Kavanagh family in
Glasnevin. The late Eugene Kavanagh commenced sponsoring
this race back in the mid 1980s. Clonliffe Harriers are very grateful
to the Kavanagh family for their continuing sponsorship of this
event.

Health and Safety 
As this year’s race will be held entirely on public
roads Clonliffe Harriers want to ensure that all participants have an
enjoyable and safe run. Marshalls will be in attendance at various
points along the course. 
 
St John’s Ambulance will be in attendance on the day.  The Gardai
have been notified.
 
The course is a left handed one and does not cross any major
road junction. However the race does pass adjacent to a number
of minor junctions on the right hand side of the race during the first
mile.
Care needs to be taken as race reaches the main Finglas Dual
Carriageway. The is a wide pathway from this junction until Harts
corner. Please take care as you approach Harts corner as the
pathway narrows.
The race does pass three entrances to Glasnevin Cemetery(Gates
2,3,and 4) and runners should exercise caution when approaching
and passing these. Runners should use the wide path as the pass
along Glasnevin Cemetery
