Mid week round up: Bob Heffernan 5k, BHAA Beach & Graded

Tuesday`s Bob Heffernan 5k Road Race attracted some of the club`s athletes away from the Tuesday track session to Johnstownbridge. Top Clonliffe man was Sean Doran 37th in 16.45, close behind him was David Brady 16.49, Conor Keane 17.23, Richard Mannion 17.37 and John Coleman 20.22.

Tonight (Wednesday) the  ESB BHAA 5k Beach race took place in Sandymount for the 20th time. Reports to hand on three Clonliffe men well in the mix Tom Sherlock 2nd closely followed by Ernie Ramsey 3rd and, racing for the second successive night Sean Doran 4th. Results soon on www.bhaa.ie

Also Wednesday night saw the latest Dublin Graded Meet in Morton Stadium, for whatever reason, it was a pretty low key affaire. A few Clonliffe in action: In the feature Bassel Clifford Mile junior athlete Cathal Doyle was best of the rest winning the race for 2nd behind run away winner MSB`s John Coghlan. Cathal running a time of 4.28.1. In the other mile races Thomas Frayne won the D race in 5.12.63, Kevin Loftus and Paul Courtney enjoyed a good last lap battle in the C race, with Kevin prevailing finishing 8th 5.03.21, with Paul 11th (5.16.59). First Clonliffe home in the B race was Sean O`Leary (4.48.58) leading a pack containing Kevin McKenna (4.49.21), Alex Hogan (4.49.45), Matthew Jenkinso (4.59.19)and Alex Gibbons (5.03.87).  In the women`s mile Elaine McCabe ran 6.03.08.

Louise Reilly was 2nd in the 5,000 in 18.05.71. Performance of the meet from a Clonliffe perspective was the 1st place taken in the 400 A race by Snezana Bechtina in an excellent 56.02. Also in the 400s Grade B race 1 2nd Leah Bergin (61.11) and in race 2, also 2nd Emer Treacy (63.31). In the men`s 400 Andrii Mahin was 2nd in A grade in 51.48, while Ronan Gately was 5th in grade C race 2 in 61.66.
