This weekend’s action was at the NIA Abbotstown for the Elite Micro Meet with superb performances by the country’s best athletes with places at the European indoors up for grabs. The highlight was a superb National record set by Mark English (Finn Valley) in the 800 of 1.46.10. In additional European qualifying times over a host of events, leaving the selectors with tough decisions to make. From a Clonliffe perspective Greta Streimkyte ran 4.42.61 in the 1500 on Saturday to take 2nd with Jonny Whan doing a great pace job in the 3000 that evening and then today placing 3rd in the 1500 (3.49.93).
