Clonliffe at National juvenile T & F day 2

Day 2 of the national juvenile track and field championships took place in Tullamore Co Offaly today. Although no medals were won by the Clonliffe athletes there were some fine performances in the older age groups and the future looks bright for these young athletes as they progress towards the senior ranks. In the 400s Jonny Fitzsimons put in a fine day’s work in the U/19 finishing 2nd in the heat in 51.77 to qualify for the final and then placing 5th in the final in a PB equalling 51.37. Christopher Lynch also qualified for the final in the U/18’s having clocked a PB of 52.83 in the heat and then finished 7th in the final in 53.15. Rebecca Walsh in the U/17 girls finished 5th in her heat in a time of 63.65. In the 3000s, Matei Ursachi, who 7 days ago competed for Ireland in the schools international in Scotland, finished 5th in the U/17 in a fast 9.11.13. Tom Breslin was 9th in the U/18 3000 (9.20.53) and Cillian Keegan was 9th in the U/19 in 9.26.83.
