Some good runs by the club`s athletes at a wet Mary Peters` Track On Saturday the 7th at the Belfast International. Cathal Doyle ran a fine 3000 pb of 8.31.84 placing 14th in a high quality race. In the much anticipated 400 race Timmy Crowe was 3rd in 47.37 behind DSD`s David Gillick 47.24 with English visitor Theo Campbell 1st in 46.24. Mark McDonald was 9th in the B 800 in 1.57.40. Finally in the mixed 3000 Eimear O`Brien was 11th in 9.54.94.
Also taking place was the Leevale AC Open Sports in Cork on Saturday where sprinter Chris Sibanda was the star of the show with a fine double. First in the 100 where after a 10.91 qualifying win he ran 10.87 in the final to win the Bernard Walley Cup and then another fine performance in the 200 with a 22.08 to make it a double. Ciara McCallion was 2nd in the 400 with a season opening 56.49.
In the British League also on Saturday Eoin Pierce ran a 3.59 1500.
Meanwhile on the roads Darren Reilly who is in great form since his comeback was 5th in Saturday`s Lucan 5k in 16.08. As a Lucan man he was also awarded a fine trophy as the first local home. Also on Saturday the RTE 5 Mile (BHAA) took place no results, save Tom Sherlock was 4th somewhere in and around the 27 minute mark. (Results text 0879599888).
Finally official confirmation today that Sean Doran is the Dublin 5K Road Novice Champion, from last week`s Tallaght 5k.
