Last weekend saw Clonliffe athletes put in solid shifts in Athlone at the Leinster Indoors. As previously reported Ian Rogers won the senior pole vault, his best on the day was 4.60 putting him over 40cm clear of the field. A very good performance coming on the heels of his Versities win that Friday. Another athlete to show well post Versities was Becky Woods who came down to the 800 for the Leinsters where she placed 2nd in 2.14.76.
The sprinters were also out once again. Paul Whelan ran 7.09 in the 60m, Stuart Roche 7.31 and Ian Kelly 8.17.
In the Leinster Masters Philip O`Doherty prevailed yet again, and yet again on the double. A fine middle distance double in the O/50 1st in the 800(2.15.06) and 1st in the 1500 (4.43.91). George Maybury was 2nd in the O/60 800 in a time of 2.34.89. John Hartnett also took two medals from Athlone in the O/40 sprints 2nd in the 200 in 25.61 and 3rd in the 60m 7.76.
