May 20, 2010 [Noel Guiden] At last night`s Dublin Graded Meet at the Morton Stadium the club`s field eventers were a class apart. Ian Rogers continued his current top form with a win in the pole vault with a best of 4.70m. In the javelin Paul Marry got his season off to winning ways with a best of 53.22m, likewise Martin Hunt was best in the hammer cage with a winning throw of 53.98m, 3rd in that event was Manuel Calis Gurry 48.6m with Simon Galligan 6th with 32.45m. Not letting the men take all the glory Denise Byrne was 2nd in the women`s javelin.
On the track John Laffey had a good run in the 400m running sub 50 (49.8) winning grade B. The middle distance boys were also out last night. There was a whole series of mile races. Fastest Clonliffe man on the night was Niall Sherlock 4.39.06, 8th in his race, with Joseph Cooper 10th in 4.41.87 and Terry McLoughlin 15th in 4.51.58. In the next race Philip O`Doherty ran his fastest track mile since becoming a master 9 yeards and 357 days ago finishing an excellent 2nd place in 4.50.05, Colm Groome got the better of training partner Ernie Ramsey , Colm 6th (4.52.16), Ernie 9th (4.54.05). Finally Clonliffe newbe Peter Kane was 7th in 5.09.77 with Clonliffe oldbe George Maybury 13th in 5.33.6.
