Clonliffe Harriers ready for European action

Clonliffe Harriers men`s team as the National League Champions will represent Ireland at the European Champion Clubs Track and Field (Group B) Championships this Saturday in Leiria, Portugal.

The Clonliffe Men’s have been regular participants in recent years at these Championships and head to Portugal tomorrow evening with a strong track and field team that looks well capable of challenging for honours.

The team travelling includes a strong blend of experienced campaigners and youth. Included in the team is, for example, national javelin champion Rory Gunning, the vastly experienced Luke Lennon-Ford who of course has competed at the highest level of the sport, former National 400 indoor champion Dara Kervick who will run over both 100 and 200, Arran Hanlon who has had a superb season in the US and has qualified to represent Ireland in the European U/23 Championship10,000m later in the summer and Keith Marks who broke Hugo Duggan’s longstanding Clonliffe club long jump record at these championships last year.

Clonliffe will be up against the Italian champions Atletica Riccardi, Haag Atletiek of the Netherlands, Finnish champions Tampereen Pyrinto, CA Dudelange (LUX) and AC Stavbar Nitra (SVK).
