Oct 31, 2011 [Noel Guiden] – (Updated Nov 2, 2011) Well done to all the Clonliffe athletes in today`s 32nd Dublin City Marathon. Although results are awaited from most (please text name and time to 0879599888) it was good to see the TV exposure Ronan Hartnett received this morning, and also to see Gary O`Hanlon and Sergiu Ciobanu at the start along with Conor Delaney. Sergiu the defending National Champion put up a sterling defence of his title but finished runner up to Tallaght AC`s Sean Connolly, Sergiu running a time of 2:20.56, Sergiu with a half marathon split of 69:01 was 14th overall. Only 5 places behind Sergiu was club mate Gary O`Hanlon with splits of 73:04/73:26 making an excellent debut, 5th in the National in 2:26.30 and 19th overall. Other results currently to hand show very good runs from the women`s team lead home by Fionnula Doherty 3:14, Maura Matthens 3:16, Emma Harding 3:35, Alison O`Sullivan 3:36, Christina McKenzie 3:41 and Orla Kelly 3:43. Brillant PB by Mark Bermingham of 2:48.47, although post race Mark was disappointed describing his race as “a bad day at the office, but lives to fight another day”. Ronan Hartnett, after his national TV appearance finished in a time of 2:51.55. Eoin Murray ran an excellent 2:53.16, Conor Delaney 2:54, an unbelieveable PB by Joe Phipps of 2:58 taking a massive 45 minutes, yes minutes, off his 2010 Dublin time. Sub three for Maurice McCrohan 2:59.48. Another excellent marathon once again by Paddy Tuite, just outside of three hours, 3:00.50. Declan Ryan ran 3:04, Gerard Kirwan 3:21. a badly blistered Alan Worall arrived home in 3:28. Trevor Wisdom ran 3:41.36. Another Marathon under the belt for Frank Devitt 3:55, Frank`s progress was very much hampered by a stomach muscle problem. Colm Breen ran 4:02. Seamus Greenan finished his 31st Dublin Marathon from 32 starts in 4:15. Congratulatons in particular to the Colonel Frank Behan who ran the streets of our fair capital on Marathon Monday for the 32nd time, a 100% record.
