Clonliffe Juvenile XC C’ships 2024

It was a fantastic morning for Clonliffe Cross Country to see such big numbers of Juveniles
out in Santry Demesne. Some of our very newest members, who recently joined, having
completed our TRY IT OUT programme, took on their very first race for the club today, there
were even a few medals won by our newbies!!

U9 Boys & Girls
The first races of the day were the U9’s. First up were the girls who took on the 700m
course. The winner of the opening race of the day was Leah Horgan, U9 2nd place went to Karolína with Ciara taking 3 rd .
The U9 Boys race was won by Charlie Rooney. In a nice way to finish the day, his father
Colm won the Senior Mens race. Nice medal haul for the Rooney’s. 2nd place went to
Matthew with 3rd going to Frankie.

U10 /U11 Boys & Girls
Our U10 and U11, Boys and Girls all raced together. Some fantastic running from this group
and some very brave and fine performances in their 700m race.
U10 Club Champion Girl is Ellie Walsh, with Sophie coming 2 nd and Maeve in 3 rd .
U10 Club Champion Boy is Kavish with new comer Haoze in 2 nd and Adam in 3 rd .
U11 Girls was won by Ria with Bethany taking the silver.
U11 Boys was won by Conal with Josh in 2 nd and Fionn in 3 rd place.

U12/U13 Boys & Girls
The 3 rd race of day saw the biggest number take part in the U12 and U13 boys and girls as
they took on 1000m. An extremely competitive bunch where there was no respect of size or
gender, every athlete out there fought a fantastic race with some extremely impressive
performances. Results as follows:
U12 Girl, Clonliffe Harriers Champion is Ava Fagan who was the first girl home in both age
groups. Sarah finished a strong 2 nd with Adrianna in 3 rd . Lucy was an unlucky 4 th on this
occasion but this team are showing great promise ahead of the Dublin Championships.
Likewise the boys grow from strength to strength. U12 Boy Club Champion title goes to
Issac O’Neill with Rhys in 2 nd and Conn in 3 rd .
U13 Girls race with to Hannah in 1 st , Nessa in 2 nd and Julia taking a fine 3 rd .
U13 Boys Club Champion is Seamus Phelan who had a very strong run from the gun and
seemed to get stronger as the race went on. 2 nd was Sam Steenson and 3 rd was Darragh
Kidd. Again, great progress from this group with some depth in this squad also.

U14 – U16’s

The last of the Juvenile Races was U14 boys & Girls with U16 Girls taking on a speed
session in the form of a 1500m race.
The girls are showing great team building and packed in well. Alibhe Clerkin was first over
the line, looking like there was more in the bag. Kate Gill finished in a very strong 2nd with
Carragh Nigfhloinn in 3 rd just taking the bronze from Sophia Tennant who is just back from
injury. The girls are also looking good for a strong team in Dublin’s.
The U14 Boys are a tight group of pure power as the pack in from the gun, but then show
“no friends on the start line” as they battle hard to cross the line in very competitive spirit.
Mark Kelly was victorious taking the gold, followed by Braxton O’Shea in 2 nd and Hayden
Kenny taking the Bronze.
U 16 girls – Our Champion is the hard working Sophie Kiernan with Leah O’Reilly taking the
Silver.

The U16 Boys ran in the Junior/Senior/Master race and took on an interesting speed session
for 1500m in the surge of the first lap of the senior race. Edy Blaque was first over the
1500m lap, taking the U16 boys title, giving the senior men a bit of a fright as he snuck
through the line, as they entered lap 2. Joshua Chalmers took the silver with Fiachra
O’Donovan taking the bronze.

It was a fantastic morning of Black and Amber in the park this morning and wonderful to see
our Juvenile Athletes out running while our junior and senior athletes warmed up along side
them cheering them on.
