Eugenia Bateson reports: Easter Monday and the U9 to U16’s took a trip to Kilkenny to the grass track of St Senans AC. Every weather possible showed up, wind, rain, hail, sun, heat, but none of them dampened the spirit of the 40+ Juveniles who took the coach trip down.
Events on offer were between 80m and 100m sprints and 300m and 700m for distance. A 1500m walk was also on offer. Field events were, the very popular long jump, shot put, javelin and high jump. The day finished out with relays.
There were some very strong performances ahead of the Dublin Outdoor Season from all. Too many to mention but worth mentioning the podium finishers
Isaac O’Neill took Gold in the 700m and bronze in the 80m . Sam O’Reilly took bronze in U15 100m with Brooklyn Jackson taking a bronze in the U16 100m. Joshua Chambers had a very impressive win in the U15 700m in his first ever competition.
Eoghan Thompson took gold in the High Jump and 3rd in the walk.
Relays closed out the day in 4 x 200m for even ages and with most athletes running up an age, there were some great legs put in.
A fantastic finish to the day with the U16 Boys putting in a superb performance taking the gold with Brooklyn Jackson, Tadgh Cowley, Sam O’Reilly and Bradley King.
Special thanks for the parents who came down to support.
Thank you also to St. Senan’s AC for their warm welcome and great event. A fantastic day had by all.
