Clonliffe juveniles get cross country season off to top start

Eugenia Bateson reports from Newbridge House, Donabate: Sunday 15th September saw the first of the Dublin Cross Country Leagues opening what looks like a promising cross country season ahead.
An impressive attendance from Clonliffe Harriers represented the club in the first Cross Country Race of the season.  Some of our newest members took on their very first race and it is fair to say – it is looking very promising for the club.

While results haven’t yet been published a few notable performance’s from today are noted below.  There were many so apologies for the omissions, there is simply too much talent to name them all.  A couple to note came from Ellie Walsh in the U10 girls.  U12 Girls were also very impressive today with 4 girls in the top 20 lead home in 7th place by Ava Fagan followed closely by Muireann Spence, Lucy Fagan and Adrianna Madrzynska.  The girls were strongly supported by the training buddies and all are showing great form ahead of the Dublin Championships.
U13 girls were also very strong today with Hannah Ni Mhuirtheartaigh leading the girls home followed by Julia Rzeszutko – again a strong girls team thundering home.
U12 boys had strong performances with Rhys Daly pushing through strongly despite being spiked early on in the race.Seamus Phelan, Channing O’Shea,  Adam Phelan, Sam Steenson and Todd Kelly also showed fine runs today results and placings to follow.  Darragh Kidd also looked strong showing that he is developing in the fine athlete with good form.
U14 boys packed in very well from the gun and showed good team spirit.  Conor Kenny came home in 2nd in his first Clonliffe race, Braxton O’Shea finished 6th, Eoghan Thompson finished 9th followed in 10th by Mark Kelly, 11th for Haydon Kenny, 20th for Joel Thomas and 36th for Aidan McDermott
U15 Boy Cormac Tynan had a fine run in preparation for the Dublin Championships finishing 6th.
Special thanks to the parents who officiated today, Sinead Crowley, Noelle Keegan and Filip Rzeszutko.  Also thank you to the parents who helped with numbers etc.  A fantastic morning of Clonliffe Sprit and athletic performance.  Full results when available will be given to coaches.
