Jonathan Fitzsimons was the Clonliffe star of the show at tonight`s Dublin Juvenile Track & Field held in Morton Stadium on another warm sunny evening (we`re getting a little spoilt now!). Jonathan ran a superb U/14 800 race always in control and then holding off his pursuers down the home straight to claim the Dublin title.
In the U/15 race Jack Woods took bronze. Bronze also for Naoise Cullen in the U/15 girls race after a fine run. U/16 girls saw Emma McDonnell take silver and with Alana Fitzsimons 4th both qualified for Nationals, Aoife Hession placed 6th. All four U/17 girls ran very well Abbie Sheehy took bronze, with Ella Brown missing out on nationals placing 5th.
The combined boys U/18 and 19 race was a scorcher with the first 400 covered in some 54 seconds Craig Giles was 3rd “on the road” and 1st (?) U/19, in a time of 1.55.
The U/12s 600 needed heats with the finals taking place later this month, both Sarah McDonnell and Rebecca Walsh placed 3rd in the heats and progress. Likewise Michael Manning goes into the Dublin final thanks to his 4th place tonight.
