Clonliffe juveniles put in a hard days night in Tallaght

Apr 23, 2010 [Noel Guiden] Well done to all our Juvenile athletes in action in Round 2 of the Dublin County Board Juvenile league tonight. It was a hard day`s night for all with these youngsters meeting up at Tallaght AC`s impressive premises and lovely track just after 6 pm and not getting back home until well after 10. There was a great turn out of athletes from the club and an equally good turn out of supporting parents. As always these young athletes gave it their best putting in some excellent performances on the night. It was particularily pleasing to see athletes in the Clonliffe colours battling right to the line regardless of whether it was a battle for first place or tenth place…never giving in.

On the night when they all performed superbly stand out highlights included Megan`s double win in the girls U/15 200m and Long Jump. Andrea`s excellent throw in the boys U/14 Javelin to win by yards and yards. Mairtain`s superbly judged run in the boys U/11 600m moving nicely from mid pack to second with 300 to go and then down the home straight having the strenght to hold onto that position. Joseph also had a really good run in the boys U/12 600m for 3rd place.

The U/10 girls 500m was split into two races. In race 1 Hope looked simply fantastic in holding off a strong challenge down the home straight to take 2nd place and in race 2 Amy also ran very well to finish 3rd. Ruth was an excellent 2nd in the U/11 600m and Ella was 3rd in the U/12 600m.

Timothe finished a well deserved 2nd in the boys U/12 Long Jump and finally at nearly the very end of the night Elliott was rewarded with 2nd place in the boys U/10 Ball Throw.

A great night`s work by each and every one of our Juvenile team. Well done all!
