Nov 30, 2011 [Noel Guiden] Once again there were very good runs from Clonliffe athletes at the CBS All Ireland Cross Country Championships held in ALSAA this afternoon. The normal ALSAA sponge had dried out leaving good running underfoot with little surface water to contend with, although it was breezy the rain held off, perfect conditions. At the close of play Clonliffe had a number of All Ireland CBS champions both individual and team.
In the junior race Cathal Doyle (Col. Choilm, Swords) lead home a Clonliffe training group 1,2,3 of Adam O`Brien (St. Aidans), 2nd and David O`Hanlon (St. Aidans) 3rd, St. Aidans taking the team title. Joseph Hession (St. Aidans) was pipped on the line in the U/13 race finishing second by a matter of inches with the team winning gold, a good race also by Keith Hodson in 6th. 2nd place also for Sean Carrig (St. Aidans)in the U/14, a good run also by Brian Flanagan in 8th with the St. Aidans boys again winning team gold. In the Inter Liam Ashton (St. Aidans) found the conditions today much more to his liking as he placed 2nd, good run also from Craig McCourt as the St. Aidans lads took team silver. A good outing also for Ian Guiden to win the senior race and with Johnny Bradley Ward 6th, Conor King 7th the St. Aidans seniors also took team gold.
Well done to all the guys and also to St. Aidans coach Alan O`Neill on bringing back a sack full of metal to Collins Avenue!
