It’s been another busy weekend, yesterday there was a large contingent of the clubs athletes competing in the Leinster indoors (see separate report) and today a big contingent of athletes competing both in Lusk and Naas.
Today’s Lusk 4 mile through an entry of over 1000 competitors to the north Co Dublin village, prior to the main race there were juvenile races around the central ‘square’ for a number of Clonliffe Harriers vests were spotted. In the 4 mile race Sean Cronin was the clubs top finisher in 2nd place in a time of 19.05, the race was won by John Travers (Donore) 18.43, Sean had in fact won this race last year. Next in was Sean Doran finishing in 5th position in 20.00, Sean 24 hours earlier had finished 2nd in the Moneytown, Co Wicklow 4 mile (20.39). Helena Butterly continues to impress, she finished 26th overall, 4th woman in a top-class field in a time of 21.59. The club’s 4th finisher in 39th position was Matt McGuinness (23.09). The team, it is a mixed team, that must include at least one woman, finished 2nd behind Raheny Shamrocks.

Also today the Naas 10 mile took place where Karl Nolan took 3rd position in 53.40, despite a couple of off course excursions by the lead 3! Karl was also 1st M40. Declan Power took 11th position, 1st M50 (56.49). Cindy Hickey ran 71.13 and was 3rd W40. Next in was Sam Quigley (72.41), Aisling Killea (77.16), Alan Worrall (1:20.55) and Emer Brennan (1:31.47).
On the country the BHAA AIB 4 mile cross country took place in ALSAA today. Selected Clonliffe results: James Dunne was 7th, 1st M45, 22nd and 3rd M55 Noel Cullen and 47th Martin Treacy. See bhaa.ie for full results.
