Round up: Clonliffe pole vaulters do one two up North and more (update)

The club`s ace pole vaulters Dave Donegan and Ian Rogers took in the Northern Ireland Track and field Championships in the Antrim Forum today June 4th. Donegan with a best of 4.90m took the title with Rogers second with 4.45m. Both men now coming into some good form as the season progresses, with Rogers putting in a season`s best and Donegan in particular  getting back to his best, a 4.80m clearance in last weekend`s European clubs followed by today`s 4.90m as he inches towards his PB of 5.00m and maybe even a new club record?

In the Scotstown Stadium, Glasgow Sarah McCormack on Saturday won the Scottish 5,000m title in a new PB, and Clonliffe Harriers AC club record of 16:19.83, beating Mary Donohue`s club record which has stood for twelve years by some twenty seconds.

In Cork today (Monday 4th) marathon man Sergiu Ciobanu was second in the Cork City Marathon in a time of 2:22.55. Gary O`Hanlon, King of the Half Marathon, won the half distance Cork event in 69:15.
