Clonliffe Harrier athletes had a fantastic night out on Friday night, despite pretty rough conditions. It was a well-earned result with the amount of hard work being put in by the athletes and given the ages of some of them it looks like a good future for sprinting in Clonliffe.
Our girls put it up to the boys with wins in the U18 4x100m (Jennifer Corcoran, Orla McCallion, Rachel Jones and Jennifer Trimble), U17 4x100m and U17 4x300m (Jennifer Corcoran, Ciara McCallion, Orla McCallion and Jennifer Trimble), we also had a 4th in Girls U11 4×50.
The boys were first in the U17 4×100 (Paul McDonnell, Domingoes Ramires, Dónal Creaner and Sean Judge), the U15 4×100 (Ciaran McCabe, Gavin Redmond, Mark McDonald and Anthony Rooney), The U14 4×100 (Gavin Redmond, Anthony Rooney, Ronan Bergin and Kevin Reilly).
There were more than 30 races in total and fair play to all the athletes involved it must have been very hard to achieve good performance in what was very showery weather. The meeting went on late with so many races being run (and only the basic lights) it was pretty dark when we finished.
Excellent work, see you at the Clonliffe 800m & 100m championships on Tuesday 15th (incorporating the ‘Bloomsday’ 800 as part of the Grand-Prix).
