Clonliffe T & F Live night 1

Night 1 of the Track & Field Live saw a large contingent of Clonliffe athletes
commence their indoor season.

In the U12 60 m Adrianna Madrzynska ran a fine race in heat 2 to finish 3 rd in 9.27,
with Lucy Fagan in 7 th in 9.99. In Heat 3 Ava Fagan was 4 th in 9.50 , same time as 3 rd
place finisher, and Muireann Spence was 5 th in 9.83. All 4 girls teamed up for U12
Girls 4 x 200 relay finishing 4 th in 2.08:46.
In the U14 Girls 60m Hannah Ni Mhuircheartaigh ran 9.43 finishing 7 th .
In a joint U13/14 800m Kate Gill finished 4 th U14 in 2.41.01 while Hannah Ni
Mhuircheartaigh was3rd U13 girl in 2.43.28. Lucy McFetteridge ran a fine race and
finished very strongly to be 1 st girl under 15 in a combined U15/16 race in 2.39.04.
There were 2 Clonliffe competitors in the boys U12 600m with the ever-reliable Rhys
Daly finishing in 3 rd in 1:54;81, with Todd Kelly 5 th in 1.59.99. Rhys had earlier won
Heat 2 of the boys U12 60 m in 8.68.
Mark Kelly was a very impressive winner of the boys U14 800 m, a race in which he
led from the gun in 2.18.86.
Joshua Chalmers put in a very gutsy performance in a boys U16 race with a time of
2.15:17.
In the Boys U16 Men’s 60 m both Sam O’Reilly and Mark Murray, making his
Clonliffe Debut finished 4 th and 5 th respectively in heat 2, with times of 7.72 and 7.73.
The Senior men’s 800 m saw a number of the Men’s Intermediate group take to the
line. In Heat 1, Niall McCaffrey took his debut win for Clonliffe in 2.06.98 with Evan
Lynch 2 nd in a pb of 2.07:49. There were 3 Clonliffe competitors in Heat 3 in which
Jack Woods made the running from the gun and hit half-way in 57 secs however he
was caught on the home straight to finish in 2.01.05. Lee Duddy who was running his
first ever indoor race finished in 5 th in 2:07.51 with U18 athlete Aaron Murray finishing
in 8 th in 2.09:11.
In the men’s mile race Niall Sherlock finished ahead of Cian Murray in a sprint finish
to take 3 rd in 4.44:26, with Cian clocking 4.44.63. Andrew Gaffney (9 th in 4.55:86) put
in a fine effort as did Ryan Sheridan as he works his way back to fitness in 5.08:81.
The next Track Field Live events are on the 4 th December in Athlone and then 18 th
December in NIA registration on line through the AI entry system.
