Clonliffe teams for Nationals

Sunday will see one of the most eagerly awaited fixtures on the annual calendar take place in Santry Demesne, hosted by Clonliffe Harriers, the national cross country championships. With the cancellation of the 2020 nationals this year’s event is even more eagerly awaited and of course throw into the mix the fact that the race acts as a trial for the international teams that will contest the European cross-country Championships in Abbottstown on December 12, it has all the hallmarks of an epic day.

This is also the first national cross country since the very sad passing of many Clonliffe Harriers in particular our club captain Joe Cooper. In honour and memory of Joe the Clonliffe teams competing on Sunday will wear ribbons in support of Leukaemia Awareness. We will also of course remember Jerry Kiernan, Christy Brady, Tommy Coyle and all other members of the Clonliffe family who have left us since we last gathered for nationals.
