Clonliffe Harriers will be holding a reception next Wednesday the 28th at 7.30pm to honour our Paris Olympian, Cathal Doyle. Cathal did himself, Ireland and Clonliffe Harriers proud with his magnificent performances at this year’s Olympics in particular in winning the Repechage 1500, (becoming the 1st Irishman since Eamonn Coghlan in MontrĂ©al in 1976 to win a 1500 race at an Olympic Games), to qualify for the 1500 semifinals where he ran a magnificent PB and Clonliffe Harriers club record in finishing in 10th position.
In addition to his Olympic feats Cathal has enjoyed the ‘year of years’, he won the national 1500 indoor title, the national 1500 outdoor title for the third year in succession and of course he the Morton mile, the first Clonliffe winner since Niall Bruton 25 years ago. He also set Clonliffe club records at 1500 indoors and outdoors 800, 1500 and mile.
Club members are cordially invited by the club president and committee to attend on Wednesday night.
