Clonliffe to the fore in the rain

A wet and cold Celbridge was the venue for tonight’s big road race, the Celbridge 5K. Ian Guiden placed 3rd (14.45), race winner was Clonmel AC’s Sean Tobin in a new course record of 14.10. Sean Doran showed no ill effects from his 5K in Castlepollard the previous night, finishing 5th in 15.18, with in 6th place the one and only Mark Kennelly, 1st M40 in 15.28. Next in for Clonliffe was Paul Keenan 16.48 to take 19th, 36th David Brady (17.41), 74th Garrett Loy (18.38) and Terence Neary (19.06).

Fintan, Ciara, Sean

Meanwhile on the beach – and the weather just as enticing – the Portmarnock 5K beach race was won by Fintan Kerins in a time of 15.34, making it a Clonliffe one two was Sean Heaslip Owens (15.40) and 1st woman, Clonliffe’s Ciara Peelo (20.22), 21st overall.

Friday, the 23rd, Lee Maginnis was 5th (19.38) in the Strangford 5k.
