Clonliffe’s Michael Weiss New National Indoor Triple-Jump Champion

Last weekend saw Clonliffe’s Michael Weiss out-jump the competition to become the new National Senior Triple-Jump Champion with a jump of 14.43m on Saturday and go on to come 5th in the Long-Jump with 6.75m.

Other performances on Saturday were:

60m
Danny Kavanagh – qualifier time 7.26s – 2nd place, Round 2 time 7.27s – 4th place. Brendan Doyle ran 7.42s. There was some controversy over the selection of athletes for the final as the electronic timing broke down for a period and they had to resort to hand-timing. The result was that hand-times of 7.2s qualified. Curiously also not all the lanes were used in the final.

400m
Danny Tobin and Stephen Harkness were in the 400m, Danny recorded 50.86s in the heat and 50.96 in the semi-final, while Stephen ran 53.13s.

3000m Robert Malseed represented us in the 3000m and came in 14th with a time of 9:05.23 which disappointed him on the day.
